happy saturday

good morning lovelies. this is the blog that should have been posted yesterday but i was so pooped from working and sewing that i decided to take a long bath and go to bed... moving on, i have decided to take on this lovely project and make 2 patchwork quilts for miss lola and miss carmen for christmas. i think i might be crazy for tackling this so late in the year but crying over my sewing machine at 2:00 in the morning is no biggie for me as it's been done many times before... so tonight i'm going to start cutting the squares for it - you know, after i have sewn a handfull of dresses and burp cloths and bibs...
i was able to sneak away from my studio this week and take these 2 munchkins to the park for some much needed swing time...

and then on thursday, after running madly around the streets of vancouver buying supplies me and the mister and the kiddos drove down to whiterock to just do nothing but eat and play at the beach and of course hit the thrift stores... unfortunately, i only had my blackberry so these photos are blurrrry and then my phone died... ooops...

and last but not least, i decided to make these bad boys....

•2 1/2 cups cake flour
•2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
•1 teaspoon salt
•1 1/2 cups sugar
•1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
•2 large eggs
•1/2 teaspoon red gel-paste food color
•1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
•1 cup buttermilk
•1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
•2 teaspoons distilled white vinegar

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line muffin tins with paper liners. Whisk together cake flour, cocoa, and salt.
2.With an electric mixer on medium-high speed, whisk together sugar and oil until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until each is incorporated, scraping down sides of bowl as needed. Mix in food color and vanilla.
3.Reduce speed to low. Add flour mixture in three batches, alternating with two additions of buttermilk, and whisking well after each. Stir together the baking soda and vinegar in a small bowl (it will foam); add mixture to the batter, and mix on medium speed 10 seconds.
4.Divide batter evenly among lined cups, filling each three-quarters full. Bake, rotating tins halfway through, until a cake tester inserted in centers comes out clean, about 20 minutes.
